贊曰：下三頌半法喻合說稟潤滋茂，因異。初一頌半喻所說少如海一滴，後二頌法喻合說滋茂因異。「滴」下歷反，《通俗文》「靈滴謂之凝」。《切韻》作「滴」。有作「渧」，丁計反，水下也，非此義。

Commentary: The following three verses and a half combine doctrine and metaphor to explain how the moistening brings about luxuriance, meaning their causes are diverse. The first verse and a half uses a metaphor to show that what is preached is small, like a single drop of the ocean; the latter two verses combine doctrine and metaphor to explain that the causes of flourishing are diverse. The character *di* (滴) has the fanqie pronunciation *li* with *xia* below; the *Tongsuwen* states: 'A miraculous drop is called *ning* (congealed).' The *Qieyun* writes it as 滴. Some write it as *ti* (渧), with the fanqie pronunciation *ding* and *ji*, meaning water descending, which is not the meaning here.
