The Commentary says: Herein there are six [features]. The first, the features of the buddha-field, has seven: 1. diverse adornment; 2. absence of evil; 3. flatness and evenness; 4. ground of jewels; 5. trees; 6. cords; 7. flowers. In accordance with [the passage on] the Elder Śāriputra above, one knows the causes and recognizes the fruits. 'Grit' (礫) means sand, or small stones. 'Pits' (坑) means hollows, or trenches. Some write it as 'xíng' (硎), meaning indentations, depressions, or small mounds. 'Mounds' (堆) means heaps of earth. 'Hills' (阜) means knolls. The Yupian says: 'A high, flat place is called a ling (knoll); a great knoll is called a fu (hill). It is earth; it is fertile; it is thick; it is tall.'
