贊曰：下果記。有七，此自體。「多摩羅跋旃檀香」者，多是性義，阿摩羅者無垢義，聲勢合故遂略去阿字，跋馳羅是賢義，略但云跋，旃檀香是唐音，即是性無垢賢旃檀香佛。由大目連煩惱輕微名性無垢，仁德如香可熏名賢旃檀香佛。

The Eulogy says: Below is the prophecy of fruition. It has seven parts; this is his own-nature. Regarding "Tamālapattracandana-gandha": tamāla denotes 'nature' (prakṛti); amala denotes 'immaculate' (vimala)—the sounds being combined, the syllable a is consequently omitted; bhadra denotes 'virtuous' (bhadra), abbreviated to simply bha; candana-gandha ('sandalwood fragrance') is the Chinese translation. Thus, it means 'Buddha of Sandalwood Fragrance of Immaculate and Virtuous Nature'. Because Mahāmaudgalyāyana's afflictions are light and subtle, it is called 'immaculate nature'; his humane virtue is like incense that can perfume, so he is called the 'Virtuous Sandalwood Fragrance Buddha'.
