贊曰：下第二段正明彼事。以下諸長行方頌有文，初會自身事。文有四：第一佛壽成道；第二「其佛未出家時有十六子」下轉正法輪；第三「爾時十六王子皆以童子出家」下子繼傳燈；第四「諸比丘我今語汝，彼佛弟子十六沙彌」下會成今佛。初文有三：一明佛壽，二法難得，三說得道。此初也。

The Eulogy says: Below is the second section, directly explaining his matters. From here onward, various prose passages have subsequent verses. First, it links to his own past matters. The text has four parts: first, the Buddha's lifespan and attainment of the Way; second, from "Before that buddha had left the household, he had sixteen sons..." onward, the turning of the wheel of the true Dharma; third, from "At that time the sixteen princes, all as boys, left the household..." onward, the sons succeeding in transmitting the lamp; fourth, from "Monks, I now tell you: those sixteen novice disciples of that buddha..." onward, linking and identifying them with the present buddhas. The first text has three parts: first, clarifying the Buddha's lifespan; second, that the Dharma is difficult to attain; third, stating the attainment of the Way. This is the first.
