贊曰：第二領中途方退。當時猶為煩惱惛醉，雖臥大乘親友之舍，不自覺知有菩提心珠。《唯識》引經，惛醉纏心曾無醒覺，彼以末那相應無明名為醉體。今以第六不共無明正為醉體，在異生位起遊行故。

The Eulogy says: The second is understanding the retreat halfway along the road. At that time he was still muddled and drunk with defilements; although lying in the house of the Mahāyāna close friend, he was not personally aware of having the jewel of the bodhi-mind. The Vijñaptimātratā [treatise] cites a sūtra stating that muddled intoxication wraps the mind without ever sobering; that [text] takes the ignorance associated with manas as the substance of intoxication. Here, the non-associated ignorance of the sixth [consciousness] is properly taken as the substance of intoxication, because one arises and journeys while in the stage of an ordinary worldling.
