The Eulogy says: Below is understanding the actual explanation of reality. There are three parts: first speaking of the initial encounter, next reproaching adherence to the expedient, and finally directing him to take the real. These are the first two. “The pleasures of the five desires” are the five comforts: first, the comfort of self-nature; second, causal comfort; third, the comfort of severing sensations; fourth, the comfort of counteracting suffering; fifth, the comfort of being free from afflictive harm. Or they are the five dharmas of the buddha-fruition: the pure realm of phenomena (dharmadhātu) and the four classes of wisdom. Or they are the untainted five aggregates of the Mahāyāna, namely the aggregate of morality and the rest. Formerly, wishing to make you attain these comforts, I tied the priceless jewel, the wondrous cause of bodhi, perfuming your consciousness, presently existing within your clothing. Reproaching adherence to the expedient says, “Yet you did not know,” vainly agonizing and laboring to seek self-benefit; failing to eradicate dharma-attachment and not seeking the five comforts, this is utterly foolish.
