贊曰：此品有二：初眾自希望，後佛為記別。初文有二：初二人希請，後二千希請。初中復二：一心念，二申言。此初也。

The Commentary says: This chapter has two parts: first, the assembly's own aspiration; second, the Buddha conferring prophecy on them. The first text has two parts: first, the two individuals aspire and request; second, the two thousand aspire and request. In the first, there are again two parts: first, their mental reflection; second, their spoken expression. This is the first.
