8.47

贊曰：下第三段子繼傳燈。長行有五，此中有四：初二頌出家啟請，次二頌半佛許正說，次有四頌諸子傳燈後，有一頌所化常益。此初也。唯無第四佛起讚歎。「營衛翊從」即臣佐也。

The Eulogy says: The third section below shows the sons successively transmitting the lamp. The prose has five parts, and here there are four: first, two verses describe leaving home and entreating; next, two and a half verses describe the Buddha granting permission and properly expounding; next, four verses describe the sons transmitting the lamp; and finally, one verse describes those transformed constantly gaining benefit. This is the first. Only the fourth part, the Buddha arising to praise them, is absent. 'Guards and retinue' refers to ministers and assistants.
