The Eulogy says: The second major section below has nineteen verses, versifying and revealing the present fruit, causing them to know to abandon the provisional and take up the real, through the matter of the parable of the conjured city. It is divided into two: first, eleven and a half verses versify the parabolic exposition; second, seven and a half verses versify the application, not versifying the doctrinal exposition. The first part also has two subparts: first, nine verses versify the past exposition of the provisional through the parable; second, two and a half verses versify the present exposition of the real through the parable. The first subpart has four subdivisions: first, three verses versify the initial preparation to leave the perilous path; next, one verse versifies the retreat halfway; next, four verses versify the creation of the conjured city; last, one verse versifies the multitude resting from their weariness. This first subdivision has three: first, one verse describes the road as perilous with many dangers; next, one verse describes the desire to cross, but the road is long; last, one verse describes the guide rescuing them from dangers. 'Many venomous beasts' refers to the fruit of afflictions and evil karma. 'Without water' refers to the absence of the Buddha's teachings. 'Without grass' refers to the absence of the Buddha's principles. The Buddha, the great guide, rescues people from dangers amid the perils of birth and death.
