9.18

贊曰：下明隨奉。有二：初難行能為，後難事能久。此初也。「乃至」者，中間所經無量事業，謂打罵之曾不退等。

The Eulogy says: The following explains following and serving him. There are two points: first, able to do what is difficult to do; second, able to endure for long in difficult tasks. This is the first. "Even to" refers to the countless deeds experienced in between, meaning that even when beaten or reviled, he never regressed, and so forth.
