9.26

贊曰：此隨順也。「蓏」作「瓜」音讀，《玉篇》「菓謂桃李之屬，蓏謂瓜瓞之屬」。又有核曰菓，無核曰蓏。又木實曰菓，草實曰蓏。又木上曰菓，地上曰蓏。

The Commentary says: This is rendering obedience. “蓏” (luǒ) is read with the sound of “瓜” (guā). The Yupian states: “Fruit from trees (guǒ) refers to the kinds of peaches and plums; fruit from vines (luǒ) refers to the kinds of melons and gourds.” Moreover, that with a pit is called guǒ, and that without a pit is called luǒ. Again, fruits of trees are called guǒ, and fruits of herbaceous plants are called luǒ. Furthermore, those above on trees are called guǒ, and those on the ground are called luǒ.
