贊曰：隨功授道喻。有二：初歡喜，後賞賜。此初也。除斷惑障，並分段生、死三魔之類，非伏天魔及所知障品三種魔軍，名戰有功。順契佛心，故大歡喜。

The Eulogy states: The simile of bestowing the path according to merit. There are two parts: first, rejoicing; later, rewarding. This is the first. Severing and eliminating the obstacles of afflictions along with the three classes of maras of delimited birth and death, rather than subduing the heavenly maras and the three kinds of mara armies among the classes of cognitive obstacles, is called "having merit in battle." In accord with the Buddha's mind, he is therefore greatly rejoiced.
