贊曰：下喻法合今施實教。有二：初喻法合今與實，即論第六集功德人增上慢；後喻合與第一，即十無上中說無上也。初文有二：初喻、後合。此初也。「諸兵眾」者謂十地菩薩也。實破四魔，破分段故。既小能破變易四魔，為說無量義經亦名妙法蓮華。二乘聖者隨其所應，全破分破分段三魔，當必能破變易四魔，發心悕大當必破故。如世軍將功勳小者，待施功而愛賞，志意驍雄，預賜勳傭之旨獎進其心，故說為與。此猶未入十地之位，且賜明珠之教，入十地已分破變易四魔，乃賜明珠之體。

The Eulogy states: Below, matching simile and doctrine regarding now bestowing the true teaching. There are two parts: first, matching simile and doctrine regarding now giving the real, which refers to the overweening pride of those who amass merit in the treatise's sixth [section]; later, matching simile and doctrine regarding granting the supreme, which is the supreme expounding among the ten supremes. The first text has two: first the simile, then the application. This is the first. "The troops" refers to tenth-ground bodhisattvas. They truly defeat the four maras because they defeat delimited [birth and death]. Since they can slightly defeat the four maras of transformative [birth and death], he expounds for them the Anantanirdeśa-sūtra, which is also called the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka. As appropriate, the noble ones of the two vehicles completely defeat or partially defeat the three maras of delimited [birth and death], and in the future they will surely be able to defeat the four maras of transformative [birth and death]; because they generate the aspiration that hopes for the great, they will surely defeat them. Just as in the world a military general who has small merit must wait until he renders service before receiving rewards, yet if his determination is brave and heroic, granting him advance notice of merited pay encourages and advances his resolve; hence it is described as "granting." This is when they have not yet entered the ranks of the ten grounds, and he merely grants the teaching of the bright jewel; after entering the ten grounds, partially defeating the four maras of transformative [birth and death], he then grants the substance of the bright jewel.
