贊曰：下正申難。有二：初申三事，後結難信。申三事者：一時小事大，二時促眾多，三時短德勝。此初也。已至上位當成菩提，名事大也。

Commentary: Below is the direct setting forth of the difficulty. It has two parts: first setting forth three matters, and then concluding with the difficulty of believing. The three matters set forth are: first, the time is short while the matter is great; second, the time is brief while the assembly is numerous; third, the time is short while their virtues are superior. This is the first. Having already reached the high stages and being about to attain bodhi is called "the matter is great."
