贊曰：下第三正申疑。有三：初牒所疑事，次「今日」下正申疑意，後「我等雖復」下申疑所由。此初。有二：初牒佛成道時促，後牒菩薩七德甚大。菩薩七德者：一脩時長，二勤精進，三定自在，四得神通，五久脩梵行，六能習法，七巧問答；故為人寶。

Commentary: Below is the third part, directly setting forth the doubt. It has three parts: first, citing the matter doubted; next, from "Today" onward, directly setting forth the intention of the doubt; and finally, from "Although we" onward, setting forth the reason for the doubt. This is the first. It has two parts: first, citing the brevity of the time since the Buddha attained the Way; and later, citing the bodhisattvas' seven great virtues. The seven virtues of a bodhisattva are: first, cultivating for a long time; second, being diligent in vigor; third, mastery of samādhi; fourth, attaining supernatural powers; fifth, cultivating brahma conduct for a long time; sixth, ability to practice the Dharma; and seventh, skill in questioning and answering; hence they are treasures among humans.
