贊曰：下十四頌，分三：初五頌頌舉事難，次二頌頌喻為難，後七頌頌申疑請。此初。有三：一頌出家時近，三頌菩薩德高難信，一頌眾大請決。

Commentary: The fourteen verses below are divided into three parts: the first five verses versify raising the difficulty based on facts; the next two verses versify raising the difficulty by metaphor; and the last seven verses versify setting forth the doubt and request. This is the first. It has three parts: one verse on the recentness of his leaving home, three verses on the bodhisattvas' high virtues being difficult to believe, and one verse on the vast assembly requesting resolution.
