贊曰：下解成道已來時節。有二：初分明說報佛菩提，成道來久為物說近；「後諸善男子如來所演經典」下密說法身，由證此故成道實久、應物權現。初是能證智，後是所證理。智，斷二德，智及智處，如次明故。初文有三：初舉喻問，次彌勒等答，後佛廣釋。此初也。

Eulogy: Below explains the duration since attaining the Way. There are two parts: first, clearly explaining the bodhi of the reward buddha, stating that although it has been long since attaining the Way, for beings it is said to be recent; second, from "Good sons, the sūtras and classics expounded by the Tathāgata..." downward, esoterically explaining the dharma body—by virtue of realizing this, the attainment of the Way is truly ancient, yet provisionally manifested in response to beings. The former is the realizing wisdom, and the latter is the realized principle. Wisdom and abandonment are the two virtues, corresponding respectively to wisdom and the locus of wisdom, clarified in order. The first text has three parts: first, presenting the simile and questioning; next, the answer by Maitreya and others; finally, the Buddha's extensive explanation. This is the first.
