贊曰：下告化身釋彼疑難。有三：初標釋，次別釋，後「諸善男子如來見諸眾生」下結釋。此初也。他眾有疑云：成道既久常此教化，中間所有燃燈、毘婆尸等成道入滅說法度生，復是誰耶？今標釋云：於是中間說燃燈佛等成道入滅，如是皆以智慧方便善巧分別說於他佛，非離我身別有彼佛。

Eulogy: Below tells of the transformation body to resolve their doubts and difficulties. There are three parts: first, stating the explanation; next, specifically explaining; finally, from "Good sons, the Tathāgata sees all sentient beings..." downward, concluding the explanation. This is the first. Others had doubts, asking: "Since the attainment of the Way was long ago and he constantly teaches here, then who were Dīpaṃkara, Vipaśyin, and others in the interim who attained the Way, entered extinction, expounded the Dharma, and delivered beings?" Now the statement explains: in this interim, speaking of Dīpaṃkara Buddha and others attaining the Way and entering extinction—all these are skillfully distinguished through wisdom and expedient means to speak of other buddhas; they are not other buddhas separate from my body.
