贊曰：下別釋疑。有二：初明所由，後「隨所應度」下顯差別。此初也。由諸眾生發心脩行願見佛者，名為來至我所。觀五根利鈍差別，為利根者說成道久，為鈍根者現成道近；為利說成正覺，為鈍現入涅槃；為利現大身，為鈍現小身；為利說深法，為鈍說淺法。各隨所應，感現差別。

Eulogy: Below specifically resolves the doubt. There are two parts: first, clarifying the reasons; second, from "according to what should be delivered" downward, displaying the differences. This is the first. Because sentient beings who generate the mind, practice, and wish to see the Buddha are called "coming to my place", observing the differences in the sharpness or dullness of their five faculties, for those with sharp faculties he says the attainment of the Way was long ago, and for those with dull faculties he manifests the attainment of the Way as recent; for the sharp he speaks of attaining perfect awakening, and for the dull he manifests entering nirvāṇa; for the sharp he manifests a great body, and for the dull he manifests a small body; for the sharp he speaks of the profound Dharma, and for the dull he speaks of the shallow Dharma. Each responds according to what is appropriate, manifesting differences in resonance.
