贊曰：現身說法。有二：初半頌現身，後二頌半說法。說法有二：初一頌說身在此現有涅槃；後一頌半化入涅槃他方利益，於靈山處現，或現有靈山。

The Commentary says: Manifesting the body and preaching the Dharma. There are two parts: first, half a verse on manifesting the body; second, two and a half verses on preaching the Dharma. Preaching the Dharma has two parts: first, one verse stating that while the body is here, he manifests the presence of nirvāṇa; second, one and a half verses on transforming beings by entering nirvāṇa to benefit other lands, manifesting at Vulture Peak, or manifesting the presence of Vulture Peak.
