9.525

贊曰：有緣得見。為二：初頌修三因見佛居淨土，後頌見佛壽有短長。修三因者：一功德，二柔和，三質直。身語意三業修善利生，滅惡三種；或戒定慧學、或施戒修，如次應知。為應恒見說壽無量，為不應恒說佛難值。

The Commentary says: Being seen where there are conditions. There are two parts: first, a verse on cultivating the three causes to see the Buddha dwelling in the pure land; second, a verse on seeing that the Buddha's lifespan is short or long. Those who cultivate the three causes are: first, merit; second, gentleness; third, straightforwardness. Through the three actions of body, speech, and mind, cultivating goodness to benefit beings and eradicating evil are of three kinds; or, the trainings in morality, concentration, and wisdom, or giving, morality, and cultivation—they should be understood in sequence accordingly. For those who should see him constantly, he preaches that his lifespan is immeasurable; for those who should not see him constantly, he preaches that a buddha is difficult to encounter.
