贊曰：品分為二：初一長行頌明時會獲益現前階降，後諸長行與頌明校量勝劣後時利益。初文有四：一標時益，二佛告益，三供養益，四頌受益。此初也。

The Eulogy says: The chapter is divided into two parts: first, a prose section and verses elucidate the present hierarchical stages of benefits obtained by the assembly at that time; later, several prose sections and verses elucidate the subsequent benefits through a comparison of superiority and inferiority. The first text has four parts: first, indicating the benefits at that time; second, the benefits declared by the Buddha; third, the benefits of making offerings; and fourth, the verses on receiving the benefits. This is the first.
