The Eulogy says: The second section below explains the benefits of upholding, reading, and reciting. In the prose there are seven points: first, the practitioner's limitless merit can generate omniscience; second, the practitioner is regarded as seeing the reward body and the pure land; third, the practitioner is regarded as bearing the Buddha upon their crown; fourth, the practitioner is regarded as having already erected buddha-stūpas and monastic quarters for making offerings; fifth, the practitioner concurrently practices the six pāramitās for self-benefit and swiftly attains omniscience; sixth, the practitioner concurrently practices the six pāramitās to benefit others in order to advance toward the bodhimaṇḍa; seventh, wherever the practitioner stays, a stūpa should be erected and offerings made. This is the first passage. It has two parts: first, hearing the 'Span of Life' chapter generates supreme wisdom; second, with respect to the entire sūtra, generating hearing, upholding, and so forth can generate omniscience, because it will inevitably be attained.
