The commentary: These three form the pair of the worldly and the supramundane. Maitreya's clan name is Benevolence (Maitrī), pulling [sentient beings] out of the worldly realm of birth-and-death. Ratnākara and the Guide lead to the other shore, the supramundane. Ratnākara leads them to bodhi, accumulating the Dharma jewel of bodhi and bestowing it. The Guide serves as the great guide, leading them to nirvāṇa, complete quiescence. Therefore, these three are distinguished, completing the seven pairs.
