Eulogy: What is the purport of this explanation of what precedes? Within the bodies of sentient beings there is entirely the Buddha-nature; therefore, those taught and transformed are only bodhisattvas, and what is done and undertaken is constantly for this matter: only to reveal and awaken sentient beings with the Buddha's knowledge and vision. The treatise's second interpretation of revealing, awakening, and entering says: 'Furthermore, "revealing" is for those bodhisattvas who have doubts, to cause them to know how to cultivate in accordance with reality. That is, there are bodhisattvas who doubt that they have Buddha-nature and are unwilling to cultivate; now it reveals that those transformed are only bodhisattvas, to cause them to know that the three vehicles equally possess Buddha-nature, and severing those doubts, they cultivate in accordance with reality. Furthermore, "awakening and entering" is to cause those who have not yet generated the bodhicitta to generate the mind—this explains the meaning of awakening; and to cause those who have already generated the mind to enter the Dharma—this explains the meaning of entering; illuminating cause and fruit completely.' Furthermore, it re-explains awakening and entering, saying: '"Awakening" is to cause sentient beings of non-Buddhist paths to produce awakening; and "entering" is to cause those who have attained the fruit of the śrāvaka to enter great bodhi, turning away from the heterodox to enter the orthodox, and abandoning the provisional to take up the real.'
