Fifth is the essence of superior transcendence of mortal death: Universally taking all principle and wisdom that transcend mortal death in cause and fruition to be the Single Vehicle. Among the four meanings of opening, revealing, realizing, and entering, the first three are the two of fruition, and the last one is the two of cause, as already explained earlier, so they are omitted from discussion here. The Śrīmālādevī-sūtra also says: "Just as grasping serves as condition for the cause of defiled karma to continue subsequent existences, producing the three realms of existence, so too does the stage of ignorance-habit serve as condition for the cause of uncontaminated karma, whereby the three kinds of mind-made bodies of arhats, pratyekabuddhas, and bodhisattvas who have attained mastery are born." Therefore the vehicle ridden by mind-made bodies is named the two within the cause; for in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha the myriad practices and tathatā are both named the Great Vehicle.
