1.161

通說多世，說世所化，豈得云我遇說，設餘佛化亦云為我，不唯今生，聞即得聖證於小果，極疾三生，如鶖子等經六十劫，豈唯今生創教於小。

It refers generally to multiple lifetimes. In speaking of what was transformed over lifetimes, how could one say 'I encountered the expounding'? Even if converted by other buddhas, it is also said to be for my sake; it is not only in the present life that upon hearing they immediately attain the noble and realize the small fruit. At the very fastest it takes three lifetimes; like Śāriputra and others who passed through sixty kalpas, how could it be only in the present life that they were first taught in the small?
