1.18

九顯九部經，為趣大說，令捨權故，故下文云我此九部法隨順眾生說，入大乘為本，以故說是經，令知方便半滿教故。

Ninth, demonstrating the nine divisions of scriptures, which were taught in order to lead toward the Great [Vehicle] and cause the abandonment of the expedient; hence the text below says: 'My teachings of these nine divisions are taught in accordance with sentient beings; entering the Mahāyāna is the foundation, and for this reason I teach this sūtra,' so that [beings] know the expedient, the partial, and the complete teachings.
