喻昔在因迷執為等，今悟喻昔云為有學。又自既解，說喻曉餘云為有學，斯亦何失？不爾，四人豈自對治？

The parable concerns their past delusion and clinging to equality while on the causal stage; now, having awakened, they use the parable to describe the past, saying it was for those in training. Furthermore, having understood it themselves, they speak the parable to enlighten others, saying it is for those in training—what fault is there in this? Otherwise, how could the four persons be counteracting themselves?
