1.88

若爾，何故《智度論》云：阿難將昇高座說經之時，向佛涅槃方而說偈言，佛初轉法輪，爾時我不見，如是展轉聞，昔於波羅奈，為五比丘眾，轉四諦法輪？

If so, why does the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa say: when Ānanda was about to ascend the high seat to preach the sūtra, he faced the direction of the Buddha's nirvāṇa and spoke a verse, saying: / 'When the Buddha first turned the wheel of Dharma, / at that time I did not see it; / thus I heard it through transmission, / formerly in Vārāṇasī, / for the assembly of five bhikṣus, / he turned the Dharma wheel of the four truths'?
