第五明教相者，夫觀音經部黨甚多，或《請觀世音》、《觀音受記》、《觀音三昧》、《觀音懺悔》、《大悲雄猛觀世音》等不同，今所傳者即是一千五百三十言《法華》之一品。而別傳者，乃是曇摩羅讖法師，亦號伊波勒菩薩，遊化葱嶺，來至河西，河西王沮渠蒙遜歸命正法，兼有疾患，以告法師，師云：「觀世音與此土有緣。」乃令誦念，患苦即除，因是別傳一品流通部外也。此品是《法華》流通分，既通於開權顯實之教，令冥顯兩益被於將來，以十法界身圓應一切，使得解脫。圓人秉於圓法，流通此圓教故，即是流通圓教相也。五味為論，即是流通醍醐味也。

Fifth, explaining the characteristics of the teaching: The scriptural corpora concerning Avalokiteśvara are exceedingly numerous, with variations such as Invocation of Avalokiteśvara, Avalokiteśvara's Prediction, Avalokiteśvara's Samādhi, Avalokiteśvara's Repentance, Great Compassionate Mighty Avalokiteśvara, and so forth. What is transmitted at present is simply one chapter of 1,530 words from the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka. That it was transmitted separately was due to Dharma Master Dharmarakṣa, also styled the Bodhisattva Ibaluo, who traveled and taught across the Pamir Mountains and came to Hexi. Juqu Mengxun, king of Hexi, took refuge in the true Dharma and was also afflicted with an illness; he reported this to the Dharma Master, who said: 'Avalokiteśvara has an affinity with this land.' He had him recite [Avalokiteśvara's name], and his illness and suffering were immediately eliminated; because of this, this single chapter was transmitted separately and circulated outside the main corpus. This chapter is the dissemination section of the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka; since it opens up the teaching of opening the expedient and revealing the real, causing both covert and overt benefits to cover the future, responding fully to all beings with bodies of the ten dharma-realms to bring them liberation. Because people of the perfect teaching uphold this perfect dharma and circulate this perfect teaching, this constitutes the characteristics of the teaching of circulating the perfect teaching. Spoken in terms of the five flavors, this is circulating the sarpir-maṇḍa flavor.
