In distinguishing covert and overt, the two benefits, there are thirty-six propositions in all. In distinguishing the two wisdoms of expedient and real: in the former question-and-answer, real wisdom illuminates the true and sentient beings attain liberation, while expedient wisdom illuminates the provisional and sentient beings attain deliverance. Deliverance means deliverance in the expedient as well as deliverance in the real; liberation means liberation in the true as well as liberation in the provisional. The answer to this also possesses four propositions: either through true wisdom one is liberated from the expedient, as in the seven disasters being eliminated and the two wishes being fulfilled; or through true wisdom one is liberated from the real, as in the three poisons all being separated from; or through expedient wisdom one attains deliverance into the real, as in the thirty-three bodies attaining deliverance; or through expedient wisdom one attains deliverance into the expedient, as in attaining fearlessness amidst dread and acute distress. Or both are delivered and liberated, or both are neither delivered nor liberated. Now, determining it according to the text, each mentions one side reciprocally: the former text liberates from the expedient, and the latter text delivers into the real.
