二、「何故」下，明闕具，二：初、緣化始明闕。權實等四，說出世意、示久遠成，却討三因，終歸祕藏。初成設教別接大機，既匪終窮故闕斯意。

Second, under "Why," clarifying lacking and possessing, [in] two: first, clarifying the lack on the basis of the inception of conversion. The four [pairs] beginning with provisional and real speak of the intention behind [the Buddha's] appearance in the world, reveal the realization in the remote past, trace back to the three causes, and ultimately return to the secret treasury. At initial enlightenment, the teaching was established specifically to receive those of great capacity; since it was not the ultimate exhaustion, it lacked this meaning.
