上總云受諸苦惱，未判其相，今別答，故舉水、火等也。釋諸難，例為三意：一、貼文，二、舉事證，三、觀行解釋。

Above, it generally said "experiencing various afflictions" without yet determining their specific marks; now, in the specific reply, it therefore cites water, fire, and so forth. Explaining the various disasters is patterned into three considerations: first, following the text; second, adducing phenomenal evidence; third, contemplative interpretation.
