答：刀杖折再來，重明聖力。水火滅後，誰復持來？既無持來，滅何所顯？今只令絕炎不燒、洪流更淺，存顯力大，各有其意，不得一例作難也。

Answer: Knives and staves snapping and coming again reiterates the sacred power. After water and fire are extinguished, who would bring them again? Since no one brings them again, what would be revealed by extinguishing them [again]? Now [the text] merely causes the blazes to cease so they do not burn, and the surging flood to become shallow; this preserves and reveals the great power. Each has its own significance and cannot be challenged under a single rule.
