Regarding his unwillingness to accept: in phenomenal interpretation, Akṣayamati obeyed the command to make the offering, but I have not received the command, so how could I rashly accept it? It is also that phenomenally one must show modesty. In contemplative interpretation, because of the vast function of the samādhi of non-reception, there is nothing received. In stating again, 'Have pity on me': it may be that the superior is requested to have pity on the inferior; or it may be that their stages and positions are equal, so they have pity on each other; or it may be, 'I give for the sake of the fourfold assembly, and your benevolence has pity on the fourfold assembly, so accept it'—receiving all feelings by means of having nothing received.
