論曰：此是第二正請宣說。宣說一味者，請說一覺了義之味。決定真實者，請說入實法相之觀。令彼眾生等同解脫者，令彼像法末世眾生等同一味究竟解脫。由是言之，教有四句：一正化正法兼利後時，謂前經等；二正化像法兼利前時，謂此經等；三通化前後，謂諸餘經等；四不利前後，除上爾所教。

The treatise says: This is the second [part], properly requesting the proclamation. "Proclaim the single taste" requests the preaching of the taste of the definitive meaning of the single awakening. "Determinate reality" requests the preaching of the contemplation entering the real character of dharmas. "So that those sentient beings may equally attain the same liberation" means causing those sentient beings in the final period of the semblance Dharma to share equally in the ultimate liberation of the single taste. From this perspective, teachings have four alternatives: first, primarily transforming the correct Dharma while secondarily benefiting the later era, referring to the earlier sūtras, and so forth; second, primarily transforming the semblance Dharma while secondarily benefiting the earlier era, referring to this sūtra, and so forth; third, transforming both earlier and later in common, referring to various other sūtras, and so forth; fourth, benefiting neither earlier nor later, excluding the teachings mentioned above.
