經曰　「善男子！是心性相又如阿摩勒菓，本不自生、不從他生、不共生，不因生、無生。何以故？緣代謝故。緣起非生、緣謝非滅，隱顯無相、根理寂滅，在無有處、不見所住，決定性故。」

The sūtra states: 'Good son! The nature and marks of this mind are, furthermore, like an āmalaka fruit: it originally does not arise from itself, does not arise from other, does not arise from both, does not arise uncaused, and is without arising. Why is this? Because conditions replace and expire. Dependent arising is not arising; the expiration of conditions is not cessation. Concealment and manifestation are signless; roots and trunk are quiescent and extinguished. It is in no place, and its abiding is not seen, because it is of a determinate nature.'
