論曰：此二頌是問辭。於中初頌領前所說，上半領前一味法印，下半領次一乘所成；後一頌正發問。於中上半牒無生義，下半問無生忍：既無有生，應無忍心故。

The commentary states: These two verses are words of questioning. Therein, the initial verse accepts what was previously expounded: the upper half accepts the preceding single-taste Dharma-seal, and the lower half accepts the subsequent perfection of the One Vehicle. The latter verse directly poses the question. Therein, the upper half cites the meaning of non-arising, and the lower half asks about the tolerance of non-arising: since there is no arising, there should be no mind of tolerance.
