The treatise says: This is the stage of equal awakening. It also has two clauses: first, it clarifies the condition of the stage; afterwards, it reveals its practice. In the first [part], "transcends all stages of practice" means that its practice surpasses the ten stages. "The mind has neither taking nor abandoning" means that its understanding is identical with the Buddha's; therefore, this stage is said to be the practice of equal awakening. Next, concluding generally, it says "extremely pure, with sharp faculties," which means that because the mind of innate awakening is manifested, it fulfills the cause [of buddhahood]. Next, clarifying its practice, it says "unmoving, mind-thusness decisively possesses real nature," because in this stage one attains entry into the vajrasamādhi. "Great parinirvāṇa is vast solely in its emptiness-nature" means that it is quiescent, unconditioned, and of one mark that is signless. This is just as the Benye jing says: "Entering the vajrasamādhi, with one mark that is signless, quiescent and unconditioned, it is called the immaculate ground."
