論曰：此是第五聞說得益，即顯得解總別道理。所言滅者，得上二句生義滅故。次言生者，得下二句滅義生故。是明得二義。滅生般若者，是顯得二解，是依別門而得利也。性空智海者，總而觀之。若滅若生不守自性，自性空智深廣無邊，如是名為性空智海。是依總門而得益也。

The commentary states: This is the fifth part, gaining benefit upon hearing the teaching, which reveals the attainment of understanding the general and distinct principles. What is called "extinguishing" is because of obtaining the upper two lines where the meaning of production is extinct. Next, what is called "producing" is because of obtaining the lower two lines where the meaning of extinction is produced. This explains obtaining the two meanings. "The prajñā of extinguishing and producing" reveals the attainment of the two understandings, which is gaining benefit based on the distinct gate. "The ocean of wisdom whose nature is empty" views them comprehensively: whether extinction or production, they do not remain fixed in their own nature, and the wisdom of self-nature's emptiness is deep and vast without boundary; this is called the ocean of wisdom whose nature is empty. This is gaining benefit based on the general gate.
