The sūtra states: The Buddha said: 'As for the mind devoid of tolerance and devoid of arising, the mind has no shape or parts, just as the nature of fire, although dwelling in wood, has no location, because it is of a determinate nature. It is merely a designation, merely a letter, its nature unobtainable; wishing to express its principle, it is provisionally given a name, yet the name is unobtainable. The marks of the mind are also like this: its location is not seen. Knowing the mind to be like this, there is then no arising mind.'
