隨文釋者，此一部教，大分有三：謂序、正、流通。若竪料簡，隨其八會有十義別，餘准可識。此經一部凡有七處八會，人中三、天上四，名七處也；重會普光，名八會也。此為階法，故有七八耳。此七八文相有無不同，略以十門分別。

Regarding explaining according to the text: This complete teaching is broadly divided into three: namely, introduction, main text, and dissemination. If evaluated vertically, following its eight assemblies there are ten distinctions of meaning; the rest can be known by inference. This single sūtra has in total seven locations and eight assemblies: three among humans and four in the heavens are called the seven locations; reconvening at Universal Light is called the eight assemblies. Because these are graduated dharmas, there are seven and eight. The textual characteristics of these seven and eight differ in presence and absence, which are briefly distinguished through ten approaches.
