1.61

一釋品名及來意。明難者有二：一約法，明十義深微故也；二約辭，論難顯義情故也。明者教，難者十義。又明者智，難者論道也。來意者，何故來？眾集已，為說信法成解，故來也，餘義可知。

First, explaining the chapter title and the reason for its occurrence. As for "clarifying difficulties," there are two aspects: first, in terms of the Dharma, it clarifies that the ten meanings are profound and subtle; second, in terms of words, it discusses difficulties to reveal the import of the meanings. "Clarifying" is the teaching, and "difficulties" are the ten meanings. Furthermore, "clarifying" is wisdom, and "difficulties" is debating the Path. As for the reason for its occurrence, why does it occur? After the assembly has gathered, in order to expound the Dharma of faith to accomplish understanding, it therefore occurs; the remaining meanings may be known.
