Fifth, the gate of converging conditions into the real also has two meanings: first, gathering the branches into the root; second, converging marks to reveal the nature. Within the former, because all noble teachings flow forth from truth, they are constantly not distinct from the true nature, just as when the ocean raises tides, it does not lose its salty flavor. In the treatises this is called the twelve divisions of scripture that flow from suchness; it also states that they are the teaching dharmas that outpour from the utmost pure dharmadhātu; therefore, gathering the branches into the root, it is solely suchness. Second, converging marks to reveal the nature: all those differentiated teaching dharmas arise from conditions; because they arise from conditions, they necessarily lack own-nature; lacking own-nature, they are identical to suchness. Therefore the marks of emptiness are fundamentally exhausted, and the true nature is fundamentally manifest: it is solely suchness. Hence the sūtra states: "All dharmas are identical to suchness." Furthermore, the text below states: "Those dharmas of arising and ceasing are marks of suchness."
