1.98

九支流者，謂此大經隨力受持，分成多部。《兜沙經》一卷，是第二會初。《菩薩本業經》一卷，是〈淨行〉一品。《小十住經》一卷，是〈十住品〉。《大十住經》四卷、《漸備一切智德經》四卷，竝是〈十地品〉。《如來性起微密藏經》兩卷，是〈性起品〉。《顯無邊佛土經》一卷，是〈壽命品〉。《度世經》六卷，是〈離世間品〉。《羅摩伽經》三卷，是〈入法界品〉。近於神都共于闐三藏翻《華嚴．修慈分》一卷、〈不思議境界分〉一卷、〈金剛鬘分〉十卷，此分翻未成，三藏亡歿。今現於神都更得于闐國所進《華嚴》五萬頌本，并三藏至神都現翻譯，其慈恩寺梵本與舊漢本竝同無異，新來梵本品會及文句有少不同，明此大經數本故也。此竝大經支流，隨器分流。

Ninth, the branch streams: This means that this great sūtra was upheld according to people's capacity and divided into multiple works. The Dousha jing in one fascicle is the beginning of the second assembly. The Pusa benye jing in one fascicle is the 'Pure Conduct' chapter. The Xiao shizhu jing in one fascicle is the 'Ten Abodes' chapter. The Da shizhu jing in four fascicles and the Jianbei yiqie zhide jing in four fascicles are both the 'Ten Bhūmis' chapter. The Rulai xingqi weimi zang jing in two fascicles is the 'Nature Manifestation' chapter. The Xian wubian fotu jing in one fascicle is the 'Lifespan' chapter. The Dushi jing in six fascicles is the 'Leaving the World' chapter. The Luomoqie jing in three fascicles is the 'Entry into the Dharmadhātu' chapter. Recently in the Divine Capital (Luoyang), together with a Khotanese Tripiṭaka master, the 'Cultivating Compassion' section of the Avataṃsaka in one fascicle, the 'Inconceivable Realm' section in one fascicle, and the 'Vajramālā' section in ten fascicles were translated; before this section was finished, the Tripiṭaka master passed away. Now in the Divine Capital, an additional 50,000-verse recension of the Avataṃsaka presented by the kingdom of Khotan has been obtained, and the Tripiṭaka master has arrived at the Divine Capital and is currently translating it. The Sanskrit text at Cien Monastery is identical to the old Chinese recension without difference, whereas the newly arrived Sanskrit recension differs slightly in its chapters, assemblies, sentences, and phrases, which makes it clear that this great sūtra exists in several recensions. These are all branch streams of the great sūtra, flowing separately according to capacity.
