Fifth, from "This bodhisattva at that time accomplishes..." onward explains the fruit of generating diligent vigor. "Non-turning" means not resting; this is the overarching statement. Below, nine varieties are specifically shown: 1. Unmoving from one's own vehicle, hence it says "does not abandon." 2. In the Commentary, "defiled together with": if excessive, it means craving vigor; "together with indolence": if falling short. Leaving behind these two types to achieve equal and superior progression, it therefore says "undefiled." 3. All māras and afflictive practices cannot destroy [it], hence it says "indestructible." 4. Constantly practicing in accord with a supreme mind, hence it says "without weariness." 5. Vastly being mindful of benefiting others, hence it says "vast"; this is the mind of benefit. 6. Producing benefits for immeasurable sentient beings and wishing to gather them in, hence it says "boundless"; this is the practice of benefiting others. 7. Valiant and difficult to withstand, hence it says "fierce and sharp." The translated text of the sūtra lacks this. 8. Cultivation surpasses others, hence it says "incomparable." 9. Gathering in sentient beings, hence it says "saving sentient beings," and so forth. In the Commentary there is one more clause, which can be understood.
