Second, within the section of the main exposition, the treatise divides it into seven: The first two are the upāyas for advancing to the bhūmi. 1. The section generally explaining the upāyas of gathering and assembling the bhūmi is the remote upāya, summarizing the preceding seven bhūmis to initiate the upāya of gathering and completing this bhūmi. 2. The section on attaining pure forbearance is the proximate upāya: the light of the forbearance of non-arising attained on the previous bhūmi is cultivated to maturity here, rendering it profoundly pure. 3. The section on attaining superior practice is the practice of initially abiding in the bhūmi: initiating superior cultivation relying on the preceding pure forbearance. 4. The section on purifying Buddha lands is the beginning of correctly abiding: relying on the preceding superior practice to further generate the practice of purifying Buddha lands. 5. The section on attaining mastery is the fulfillment of correctly abiding in the bhūmi: through the practice of purifying lands, virtues are accomplished without obstruction. 6. The section of great superiority is the practice of completing the bhūmi: relative to the preceding, this bhūmi is completely superior; now, the bhūmi being completed is superiority within superiority, hence called 'great superiority'. 7. The section explaining the name: the name 'Immovable' distinguishes its virtues and reveals its designation; this applies throughout, and its explanation is placed at the completion of the bhūmi.
