Fourth, regarding explaining the text, this text has two parts: first the questions, and second the answers. In the questions there are also two: first, setting forth and selecting the dharmas questioned; second, from 'World-Honoured One, how...' onward, consulting and questioning with the dharmas. In the first part, why are these ten numbers enumerated? These ten are present where the various chapters list names and in their common conclusions; yet they have not been explained and their scopes are not known. To reveal them so that they may be known, they are questioned now. In the ten phrases, below the second, 'inmeasurable', the answer names it 'immeasurable'; below the fifth, 'incalculable', it names it 'innumerable'; the sixth and seventh form a single phrase, namely 'incomparable' and 'inmeasurable'—the answer to 'inmeasurable' is in the eighth, and 'inconceivable' is in the seventh; the rest can all be known.
