First, explaining the title: "Jewel king" is the maṇi jewel, the most precious of treasures, hence called "jewel." Because it can produce jewels with mastery, because it is the supreme among jewels, and because it is that on which all jewels depend, it is called "king." It exemplifies that the dharma of nature manifestation also possesses three meanings: the meaning of producing wisdom, the meaning of being supreme, and the meaning of being that on which things depend. The *Treatise on Buddha-nature* (*Foxing lun*), in the chapter "Tathāgatagarbha," states: "From abiding in self-nature to attaining the fruit, hence it is called 'tathāgata'." That which does not change is called "nature"; that which manifests functions is called "manifestation" (or "arising"); this is the nature manifestation of the Tathāgata. Furthermore, the true principle is called "suchness" (tathā) and "nature"; the manifestation of function is called "manifestation" (arising) and "come" (āgata); thus the Tathāgata is nature manifestation. These titles name the chapter from the perspectives of person and dharma, as well as dharma and function. Moreover, another translation of this text is titled *Sūtra on the Secret Treasury of the Tathāgata*, and another is titled *Sūtra on the Tathāgata's Arising and Manifesting*. Furthermore, the text below contains ten titles, all of which may be understood.
